The Homes of Sausalito
As the picture above shows, Sausalito homes are found both in the hills and along the shoreline. Within these borders you’ll also find an eclectic mix of homes. Some are colorful Victorians, which often come to mind when you think of Bay Area architecture.
And others are modern and contemporary.
Some of the most popular homes in Sausalito are the over 400 houseboats that line the coast. These floating homes come in various shapes and sizes and are a popular tourist attraction.
Gates to most of the docks are unlocked, so many people visit to enjoy a walking tour of the Sausalito houseboat community. Once a year the community also opens up its doors for the Sausalito Floating Homes Tour where tourists get an insider look into this unique community.
