MB Jessee Receives Certification For Lead Removal in The San Francisco Bay Area
On April 22, 2010, The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will enforce a new law that all contractors must have proper certification for dealing with lead on homes built prior to 1978. The law states, that all contractors "performing renovation, repair or painting projects that disturb lead based paint...to be certified and to follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination."
MB Jessee Painting, serving the East Bay, Berkeley, Oakland and San Francisco Bay Area, has already completed their certification process. If you have a painting or home renovation project and are concerned about lead, please contact MB Jessee. Our employees and our owner, Matt Jessee, have been trained in the safety practices and removal of lead-based paints. They also can answer any questions you may have regarding the new law.
One final reminder, please be careful hiring contractors who are not certified after the April 22nd deadline. The certification is an expensive process and many contractors will try to avoid being certified. It is wise to ask any home service company for their credentials if they will be performing work on your "older" (pre 1978) home. It is against the law, and there can be fines involved for contractors who do not receive certification.
