Beautiful Homes of Sausalito

Sausalito, California is a coastal city in the San Francisco Bay Area, just off of the Golden Gate Bridge, where hillside meets shoreline. The picturesque community is beloved by residents and tourists alike for its interesting culture and beautiful sights.

Reaching Sausalito

There are no airports in Sausalito, but you can reach the city by walking, biking or driving the Golden Gate Bridge; Sausalito is just over the bridge, take the first exit and follow it into town. There are also two ferries that travel from San Francisco to Sausalito – Blue & Gold Fleet and Golden Gate Ferries.

The Homes of Sausalito

As the picture above shows, Sausalito homes are found both in the hills and along the shoreline. Within these borders you’ll also find an eclectic mix of homes. Some are colorful Victorians, which often come to mind when you think of Bay Area architecture.

And others are modern and contemporary.

Floating Homes

Some of the most popular homes in Sausalito are the over 400 houseboats that line the coast. These floating homes come in various shapes and sizes and are a popular tourist attraction.

Gates to most of the docks are unlocked, so many people visit to enjoy a walking tour of the Sausalito houseboat community. Once a year the community also opens up its doors for the Sausalito Floating Homes Tour where tourists get an insider look into this unique community.

Things to do in Sausalito

One of the most popular things to do in Sausalito is to simply stroll the waterfront. This allows you to get a great view of the town, stores, restaurants, cafes and art studios.

Sausalito celebrates the creative arts with many art studios, including those that feature local artists work, such as Gallery 111, ICB Artists Association, and Studio 33. Sausalito also has an annual Art Festival that has been running for 63 years and is held annually on Labor Day weekend.

Another popular place to stop is Heath Ceramics, an artisan pottery manufacturer that has its roots in Sausalito. The original 1959 factory is still standing in Sausalito and you can take a factory tour to see how clay is made and dinnerware is shaped, glazed, trimmed and fired. In addition to the factory tour, you can also browse the Sausalito Factory Showroom where you can get a great deal on discounted dinnerware.

There are also many wonderful places to eat in Sausalito. The Our Sausalito website has a rundown of the best lunch & dinner restaurants; best cafes, deli’s and diners; best dining views; most talked about restaurants; best casual dining spots; best places for special occasions; best breakfast; best burgers; best sandwich spots; and best wine tasting.

Sausalito – A Thriving Coastal Community

As you can see, there are many things to see and do in Sausalito, and it’s no wonder that about 7,000 people have decided to make the city their home. In fact, when Coastal Living began doing their list of Happiest Seaside Towns in 2012, Sausalito came in at number 3.

Customer Reviews

“Dear Matt,You must be so proud of your men! They were fantastic to have around. Polite, courteous and hardworking. I am so pleased with the outcome of our home--in fact, I couldn't be any more pleased than I am!”

— Mrs. S
San Leandro

“Very easy to work with, they did an outstanding job with our project of re-painting our painting our kitchen cabinets. Given the scope of the job and that our kitchen is roughly half of our upstairs living area they did a fantastic job of minimizing the mess. Workmanship was top notch, would definitely recommend.”

— Vince Scola

“The kitchen looks NEW! You guys are amazing.”

“Awesome work by highly experienced, professional painters. They were: Conscious about the amount of time it would take. Ours had a lot of pre-work and took 3 weeks. Accommodating when we added a few last-minute changes Understanding when a heatwave hit and we remove some of the plastic sheeting over windows, which they had to put back up the next day. Accessible, especially the on-site crew (Hi Jose & Victor!) -- always answering questions and checking in. The end result is a perfect paint job that makes our 94-year-old house look brand new. I would definitely hire MBJ again”

“MB Jessee painters are stellar! As a designer I've worked with numerous companies over the years, and MB Jessee is a top-notch firm. From the first phone call to the final clean up, every person is courteous, professional, and hard working. The owner, Matt, is a charitable leader who has instilled his team with integrity and honesty providing the customer with a first class experience at a fair price with a paint job that is guaranteed to last. I highly recommend MB Jessee. Thank you Matt and your STAR crew-Daniel, Rigoberto, Vicente, Edy, Pedro, and Mario, for a job well executed! Cynthia Brian, ASID, Starstyle® Productions, llc”

“I want to express my thanks for a job well done. The rooms look great and there is no problem with any marks on the all the trim, floor, carpet, etc. The paint job is lovely. I also want to express my thanks for the level of professionalism the foreman showed in running the job. He was very attentive to any changes I needed to make, was extremely careful in getting the faux paint color and effect correct. Thanks so much for a job well done.”

— Suzan D’Arcy

“M.B. Jessee painted the exterior of my Spanish house over 9 years ago, and they did such an incredible job that they are still getting referrals from me today. The paint is holding up perfectly -- there is absolutely no peeling chipping or any other deterioration. I still remember that my final walk-through list consisted of items written on one side of a 3x5 index card (and I'm REAL picky about my house!) However, when Matt and I did that walk-through over HALF the items were no longer an issue, as his team had noticed them first and they had already been resolved.”

— JoAnn Newcomb

“I love the article in the paper on your company. Thank you for supporting our community by painting at the Claremont Middle School. Thanks!”

— Carla Banks

“MB Jessee just finished our exterior and we couldn't be happier with our experience. The foreman (Pedro) and lead painter (Ricardo) were incredible to work with: they communicated scheduling clearly, Ricardo was a joy to be around every day, the showed up early every day, were incredibly tidy and did great paint work. The final walk through experience was incredible. Pedro pointed out items I missed demonstrating a clear desire to complete another quality project. I highly recommend them. As others have noted they definitely aren't the cheapest but you quickly realize that you're getting what you pay for. The 3 year guarantee is also a nice touch since there are likely touch up items that will show up after the job is done.”

— Joshua Jansen

“I cannot imagine finer painters--and I have worked with many. They work exceptionally hard. It is a joy to see their workmanship!”

— Alicia R.
Oakland

“It was a great experience working with MB Jessee. The crew was careful and thorough as they painted the house, sealed stucco cracks, repaired dry-rotted wood, stained the deck, etc. Robert, Gersson, Jose, and all of the people involved in the process from the estimate to the job completion were friendly and professional.”

— Mike C.
Livermore, CA

“Matt, Julie & Ricardo, I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank the three of you for the wonderful job you did in hosting the SFBA NARI Chapter Meeting on Wednesday evening. Everything was perfect from beginning to end. Members and guests alike walked away with a truly positive experience. The "painter for a day" and the cookies in the paint cans were an absolute brilliant touch and received rave reviews. What a wonderful way to do such positive marketing. Thanks again for a truly memorable experience for our members and guests. You are valued as a NARI member.”

— Judy Tufo, SFBA NARI Executive Director
