Happy Spring—with San Francisco Bay Area Designer Laura Martin Bovard!
With the return of sunshine to our beautiful Bay Area we thought it fitting to share one of our most spring inspired rooms. When we work on a project our intention is to create an environment that supports the lifestyle of the people who live there. We take time to get to know our clients and to make sure that the rooms we design for them will be places where they will feel happy and at home. In the case of this fresh and pretty room the young girls who live here have outgrown their nursery days and wanted a room that felt more mature and modern but was a fitting look for a more traditional home. We hung a playful yet sophisticated wallcovering on the anchor wall in lieu of art and had a local artist create monogrammed art for the other wall to personalize the space. The ceiling is painted blue to feel like the sky and the walls a soft shade of yellow to allow the pops of orange and pink to stand out.
We encourage you to let the fun colors of this spring season inspire you this year by getting playful with your interiors especially spaces that are for your family. Kitchens, bathrooms, kids room and play rooms are areas in the house that we have found take well to happy colors. They can be fun and sophisticated at the same time. Try painting a kitchen wall with colored chalk paint which now come in a rainbow of colors, or have a rotating anchor wall in your kitchen or playroom where you change the color once or twice a year. It keeps the energy in a busy space lively and is never boring as long as the colors are thoughtfully chosen to compliment and not clash with your interiors. One of our clients has an accent wall in her kitchen that we paint a fun new color once or twice a year and it is quite the topic of conversation with her friends and family.
