Painting a Historic Venue in Benicia, CA

This historic mansion, built in 1861, has a unique history. Designed by east coast architects, it was a home away from home for Civil War officers. If only these walls could talk… The grounds are part of the Historic Benicia Arsenal, and have been walked by both General Grant and Sherman.
Today, this gorgeous mansion is a popular wedding venue. Given its age, significance, and the need to look its best for every photo opportunity and event, painting this property was a unique privilege.
We worked closely with Reed R, property manager, developing a plan for surface repair and painting that would bring this estate back to its full glory.
Extensive Surface Preparation and Painting
“The site was left immaculate after each day's work, even with all the scraping that was transpired. Planting areas were covered, plastic covering disposed each evening, equipment put away and a nice greeting each time I came to view the work in progress.”
Our process included:
Pressure washing
Protecting the grounds and plants
Masking all surround surfaces
Extensive scraping and sanding
Painting the fascia and stucco siding
Painting a variety of the windows and doors
Spot priming and painting the trellis
As always, we provided careful attention to detail, respect for the space, and friendly, uniformed painters.
