Does Your Commercial Painting Contractor Offer Carpentry? (They Should!)

Our society is built on the specialization of labor, which is a good thing in many ways. For example, barbers no longer do tooth extractions on the side… we have dentists for that! That being said, here at MB Jessee, we believe that a commercial painting company needs a dedicated carpentry division. Why is that a commercial painter should also do carpentry? We have several good reasons.

Commercial Painters Often Discover Carpentry Problems

Attention to detail is one of a commercial painter’s most important attributes. As we prepare an area for painting, we carefully clean and examine each surface. In many cases, this means we are the first ones to uncover areas where exterior wood has begun to fail:

  • Window trim
  • Handrails and bannisters
  • Doors and door trim
  • Decks and porches
  • Victorian columns
  • Stairs
  • Fascia
  • Siding

Because we have a dedicated carpentry team, we can make sure these issues are properly remediated before your commercial painting happens.

Carpentry Delays Can Cause Painting Delays

If there is any carpentry that needs to happen on a commercial painting project, whether it be exterior wood rot repair, interior molding installation, or other similar issues, this needs to happen before the painting. Having a commercial carpentry division under our same roof allows us to move quickly to take care of these matters. That way, the painting is not delayed by waiting for another carpenter.

The Whole Project Bears the MB Jessee Name

Many commercial painters rely on subcontractors to handle carpentry issues, but here at MB Jessee, we like to keep it all in-house. Quality assurance is one of the biggest reasons for this. When our carpenters do the carpentry and our painters do the painting, we can confidently stand behind our work with an industry-leading warranty.

On the other hand, if the carpentry is done badly, our painting will not last. Shoddy woodwork can’t be fixed by great painting, and the client is the one who suffers.

Customer Reviews

“In all the years I've worked with MB Jessee, I'm always so impressed by your crews. They are so respectful of everything--you never even know they're there! Except that the paint looks amazing when they're gone. We've had one showing of our home and already have an offer. I'm sure it is because the paint looks so beautiful.”

“Thank you for the support you have given the Women's Cancer Resource Center over the past year!”

— Margo - Director Women's Cancer Resource Center

“I want to express my thanks for a job well done. The rooms look great and there is no problem with any marks on the all the trim, floor, carpet, etc. The paint job is lovely. I also want to express my thanks for the level of professionalism the foreman showed in running the job. He was very attentive to any changes I needed to make, was extremely careful in getting the faux paint color and effect correct. Thanks so much for a job well done.”

— Suzan D’Arcy

“I loved working with M.B. Jessee from start to finish on a relatively small paint job that grew a bit. I felt in very good hands from the moment Matt Jessee came out to give me the estimate and talk about my job. He was very easy to talk to and he handled my changes very well. Then the actual work done by Rigoberto and Mario was impeccable. They were neat and meticulous and the paint job looks beautiful. I could not have asked for more and when I did, they accommodated me 100%. I will not hesitate to call M.B. Jessee again and to refer them to friends.”

— Nancy Kurkjian

“Very easy to work with, they did an outstanding job with our project of re-painting our painting our kitchen cabinets. Given the scope of the job and that our kitchen is roughly half of our upstairs living area they did a fantastic job of minimizing the mess. Workmanship was top notch, would definitely recommend.”

— Vince Scola

“I just wanted to send you an email to say that John did such a great job over here today. He is truly a hard worker. He has the perfect balance of friendliness, honesty, and professionalism. I trust him. He takes the time to do the job to the best of his ability and that is what sets him (and your company) apart from the competition. He didn't make me feel rushed. He really made me feel like our job was the most important thing in the world. Thanks again!”

“I can't say enough about how courteous and professional my foreman was. He was on time every morning and arrived cheerful and ready to go. He is highly organized and very thoughtful. He was extremely careful and respectful when moving my belongings - a mature professional.”

— Nora Robinson

“Matt, We are very happy with how all of the painting worked out. We were extremely impressed with the quality of the work in the bathroom. I liked working with Victor, he and Marvin were extremely conscientious about doing a great job, not just the minimum. I know the front door took a lot longer than you'd expected. But they did it PERFECTLY. We never thought it could turn out like that! Thanks again for the great work. We'll be calling you again in the future!”

“I had my wooden kitchen cabinets painted white. Anabal and Danielle were doing the job. I have nothing but praise for them. They came on time, cleaned up every day, were respective, friendly and helpful. If the rest of Jessee's crew are as great as Anabal and Danielle, this company will go far.”

“MB Jessee just finished our exterior and we couldn't be happier with our experience. The foreman (Pedro) and lead painter (Ricardo) were incredible to work with: they communicated scheduling clearly, Ricardo was a joy to be around every day, the showed up early every day, were incredibly tidy and did great paint work. The final walkthrough experience was incredible. Pedro pointed out items I missed demonstrating a clear desire to complete another quality project. I highly recommend them. As others have noted they definitely aren't the cheapest but you quickly realize that you're getting what you pay for. The 3-year guarantee is also a nice touch since there are likely touch-up items that will show up after the job is done.”

“Matt, Julie & Ricardo, I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank the three of you for the wonderful job you did in hosting the SFBA NARI Chapter Meeting on Wednesday evening. Everything was perfect from beginning to end. Members and guests alike walked away with a truly positive experience. The "painter for a day" and the cookies in the paint cans were an absolute brilliant touch and received rave reviews. What a wonderful way to do such positive marketing. Thanks again for a truly memorable experience for our members and guests. You are valued as a NARI member.”
