2013 San Francisco Decorator Showcase | MB Jessee
Without a doubt, the most exciting event of the year in the interior design world in the San Francisco Bay Area is the SF Decorator Showcase. Every year for more than three decades, the most talented and creative design minds in the Bay Area descend on a home chosen from the City’s most prestigious neighborhoods. Each designer is given a space in the home to transform. The result, year after year, is a feast for the senses. With such design luminaries as Applegate Tran, Marsh & Clark Design, Chambers + Chambers, and Leverone Design (and still more!!) this year promises to be just as spectacular!
We have loved working in the Showcase homes over the years. The ultra-cool fashion blogger’s studio from Catherine Kwong in 2012 and Val Fiscalini’s sumptuous and light-splashed Shangri-La bath from 2011 are personal favorites!
This year we were very pleased to be tasked with painting much of the interior of the home. It can be intense in the Showcase home in the weeks leading up to the opening. Dozens of projects, occurring simulataneously. An army of skilled tradespersons taking the field in one residence: electricians, carpenters, painters, tapers, landscapers, paperhangers, and of course, interior designers. Dizzying! But fun and exciting.
The entry of the grand home was an enormous space, with mirrored walls extending up two stories. The designers though, wanted walls where the mirrors were. MB Jessee took a novel approach: we caulked the seams of the mirrored panels and then prepared the mirror faces as if they were walls! After our caulking, we primed and sprayed out the walls. Voila! Soaring walls ready for designers.
The San Francisco Decorator Showcase home opens April 27th and is located at 2800 Pacific at Divisadero. Hope to see you there!
