Coating Systems We Install

The right system comes out of the substrate, the exposure, and your timeline. There's no single best coating. There's the best coating for your situation. A few examples of what we typically spec:

• Epoxy floor systems. The workhorse. Standard-thickness (10-20 mils) or high-build (up to 1/4"). Good chemical resistance, excellent adhesion, cost-effective. Best for warehouses, mechanical rooms, and general manufacturing spaces where UV exposure is limited.

• Urethane and polyurethane topcoats. UV-stable, more flexible than epoxy, better impact and abrasion resistance. Often used as a topcoat over an epoxy basecoat in high-traffic environments or where color retention matters.

• Polyaspartic systems. Fast-cure (return to service in hours rather than days), UV-stable, high abrasion resistance. Premium price point, but the operational value is real when downtime is the constraint. Common in facilities that can only close over a weekend.

• Methyl methacrylate (MMA) systems. Fastest cure available, installed in freezer environments or ultra-low-temperature applications. Specialized and typically specified when nothing else will work.

• Decorative and specialty systems. Broadcast quartz, decorative chip, colored aggregate, and other finishes for retail, showroom, or corporate campus applications where appearance matters as much as performance.

Your proposal will name the specific product, the manufacturer, the mil thickness, the surface prep specification, and the expected cure schedule.

Line Striping and Safety Markings

Line striping is more than paint on concrete. It's a safety system, and in most facilities it's regulated. We install:

• Forklift lanes and pedestrian walkways with lane widths per your facility's traffic pattern and OSHA guidance

• Hazard zones and restricted areas using OSHA/ANSI Z535 color codes (yellow for caution, red for danger, orange for warning, green for safety equipment)

• ADA-compliant parking including van-accessible spaces, access aisles, and signage placement

• Warehouse floor markings including inventory zones, staging areas, dock zones, and equipment footprints

• Athletic and recreational courts where facilities include employee amenity spaces

Striping paint selection matters. On coated floors, we use a paint compatible with the coating system underneath. On raw or previously striped concrete, we use traffic-grade paint or thermoplastic depending on the wear conditions. The wrong product on the wrong substrate is why so much industrial striping fades within a year.

Our Process for Floor Coating Projects

1. Site walk and substrate evaluation. We come on-site to look at your concrete, discuss your operational schedule, and identify anything that could affect the coating selection: previous coatings, oil contamination, cracks, joints, or moisture issues.

2. Moisture and profile testing. For coating projects, we perform moisture vapor emission testing (per ASTM F1869) or relative humidity testing (per ASTM F2170) when the substrate history is unknown. We also confirm the required concrete surface profile per ICRI CSP standards for the system we're specifying.

3. Detailed proposal. You get a written scope that names the product, the manufacturer, the mil thickness, the prep specification, the cure schedule, and the expected return-to-service timeline.

4. Pre-job coordination. Before mobilization, we confirm your operational schedule, staging areas, ventilation requirements, and any temperature or humidity constraints that affect installation.

5. Prep, install, and cure. Surface prep (shot blasting, grinding, or profiling per spec), primer coat, basecoat, topcoat, and any specialty finishes. Each phase is documented and cured per the manufacturer's specification.

6. Line striping and markings. Applied after coatings have cured to a safe recoat window, using layout that meets your operational and regulatory requirements.

7. Quality verification and closeout. Before we demobilize, we walk the floor with you, document completion with photos, and confirm everything meets the specified scope. You get product data sheets, warranty documentation, and maintenance guidance in the closeout package.
