Exterior Commercial Painting - A Large-Scale Transformation in Downtown Berkeley
We often feature our residential painting projects on social media and in our blog. While this is a huge part of who are and the work we do, we’re excited to let you in on another side of MB Jessee.
Specifically, our commercial side.
In addition to painting homes throughout the Bay Area, we also apply our expertise to a wide variety of local businesses, HOAs, apartment buildings, and more. As just one example, be sure to check out the interior painting we completed in this Michelin-starred restaurant (pretty tasty, in every way).
Today, let’s take a quick tour of a large apartment building we just wrapped up. The photos tell the story best, but we have a few details below for you as well.
Being a Lead-Safe Certified Painter Came In Handy!
When we first arrived we discovered what had the potential to be a beautiful old building. The lines and detailed elements point back to an older age of craftsmanship that we love seeing (and restoring!) whenever we have the opportunity.
Unfortunately, age is a two-edged sword. Time had left its mark, leaving scarred and decayed surfaces behind. We also really had no record of when it was last painted; it was just undeniably a long, long time ago.
Beyond needing repair and TLC, we also knew that the presence of lead paint posed a potential threat. Our team is lead-safe certified by the EPA, however, meaning that we have the knowledge and experience necessary to safely manage and control this hazard. Our team did a wonderful job following the correct procedures to effectively navigate, contain, and seal the outdated surface.
Repairing the Wood Rot Before Exterior Painting
Every enduring painting project begins with thorough surface preparation and repair. If you skimp on this part, you’re building on a faulty foundation that will compromise the lifespan and integrity of your work.
With the help of professional carpentry services, we repaired and replaced those sections of exterior wood that had been consumed by rot. This made having a healthy, restored surface possible.
How About the Actual Painting Process?
We used four different colors, creating a totally refreshed style. The light trim color also helps that beautiful, old-school detail work that we mentioned to pop out even more. Be sure to click through the slideshow above to see what this looks like in living color!
Did you know...
We can offer digital renderings of a project! In this case, we were able to give our client a preview of what different colors, hues, and placements would look like through digital renderings of actual photos.
