Get Ready, Because Winter Is On The Way!
Brrr! There is a definite bite in the air these last few mornings. In our front yard we have a hideous, er… “charming” yard gnome that my son adores. Affixed to his round belly is a temperature gauge. This morning it tells me it is a balmy fifty degrees out. Like I said, brrr! I love fall though. Fall is my favorite season. Across the San Francisco Bay Area, the days are mostly sunny and we’re done with the scorching, sweat of the summer but not quite into the bitter freeze and drizzle of winter; it is perfect! Fall means cozy sweaters and boots, a cashmere throw over the sofaback, and a roast chicken filling the house with the smell of rosemary and garlic. And the colors autumn brings us! True, this isn’t the storied leaf transformation of fall days on the East Coast. But on our tree-lined streets from Piedmont to San Francisco to Lafayette to Atherton, one can see the beautiful red, gold and orange leaves falling from above. Lovely!
But these divine days of fall are all too short. As it starts to get nippier, we know that winter is just around the corner and with it will be the chilly—and seemingly endless!—rain in the hills of the East Bay on the on San Francisco streets.
