Giving Back To the “Big Guy”
As a painting company, we have the opportunity to meet paint representatives from many different manufacturers. Since we work together closely, troubleshooting projects and choosing products, we often get to know these reps well.
James, from Sherwin Williams, is one paint rep who will always have a special place in our hearts. Sadly, we lost him suddenly and far too soon.
James was a one-of-a-kind guy. He was quick to help, and even quicker to brighten our days with his kind, happy spirit. As Vincent, our Director of Operations, put it, “He was the ‘Big Guy,’ and he had an even bigger heart. To me, he was always, always there when we needed him.”
James’ passing left us with a major loss, but it also left us with an opportunity.
Giving Back To James and His Family
Sherwin Williams presented the idea of doing something to give back to James’ family, and Vincent quickly took the lead.
He worked tirelessly to orchestrate a workday in James’ memory and honor. “He was a family man,“ Vincent says. “He made sure he was there for his kids after school, at sports practices. I wanted his family to know how much we respected and liked James. He was a great person for his family and community.”
Vincent assembled a team of over a dozen MB Jessee painters, all happy to help. Giving back to the community is one of our core values, and James was well-known and liked.
Our work included:
Extensive power washing, refreshing all of the exterior siding.
Painting the eaves, gutters, fascia, and window trim.
With time left in the day, Vincent suggested repainting the front door as well. The family loved the idea, so we painted it a deep black.
A section of fencing was missing along the back edge of the yard, where James’ property abuts a park. Our carpentry team built a gate for easy park access, while also giving the fence a more finished look.
Vincent says he considers MB Jessee Painting his family, and family is everything. We all certainly considered James an extension of that family, and appreciate the help, kindness, and joy he shared with us over the years. It was a privilege to finish a final project for the “Big Guy!”
