Exterior Painting in San Francisco: Surface Prep Matters!

As professional house painters, it’s easy to focus on the results. That gorgeous new paint, smooth finishes, perfectly cut lines… But sometimes it’s equally important to highlight where the project started. It offers a chance to share the all-important process, and point out a few good painting observations along the way.
Today, let’s take a closer look at an exterior repaint our team just finished in San Francisco.
Bubbling, Peeling Exterior Paint

Time for Exterior Painting Prep
Prepping the environment and surfaces are a key part of the MB Jessee Way. It makes for efficient cleanup at the end of the project, and also shows respect for our client’s property. Getting even more practical, surface prep drastically improves the finish quality and longevity of your paint job.
In other words, it’s essential. No cut corners.
Our process includes:
Pressure washing, depending on the age, nature, and condition of your surfaces
Protecting your landscaping
Meticulous masking
Wood repair, as needed (our carpentry team can make sure the wood is solid and healthy)
Sanding to remove old layers of failed paint
Priming (whether spot-priming of full-priming, the goal here is to build a strong, clean foundation for your topcoat to grip onto)
Caulking
Window glazing, as needed
Painting
Freshly Painted and Fully Protected

And… done! We love how these fully transformed surfaces look in the new colors, plus knowing that they’re well protected against UV damage, moisture intrusion, pests, and more. Fresh paint is a durable, beautiful barrier!
